Traditionally, the country has supplied vegetables to Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. In January 2023, potato exports increased by 28.4 times and amounted to 19.8 thousand tons compared to the same period in 2022. Uzbekistan became the largest buyer, with 18.9 thousand tons exported.
Russia was the main consumer of cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbage. In January, exports from Kazakhstan of tomatoes (15.1%), cucumbers (18.5%), and carrots (17.5%) increased.
However, Kazakhstan sold less cabbage to its northern neighbor, with exports decreasing by 3.8 times.
Kazakhstan also began selling more lentils, with volumes increasing by 14.5 times to 13.4 thousand tons. Turkey became the main buyer, purchasing 8.5 thousand tons.
But the export of peas decreased by 22.8%, to 5 thousand tons. The main volume was exported to Afghanistan - 4.8 thousand tons.
