95% of imports came from Morocco

Almeria was Spain's biggest zucchini importer in 2022

According to a report on Spanish zucchini imports prepared by Hortoinfo based on data from the Estacom statistics service, in 2022, Spain imported 20.51 million kilos of zucchini, i.e. 36% more than in the previous year, for a total value of 19.63 million euro and an average price of € 0.96/kg.

Imports have increased by 71.2% over the past ten years from 11.98 million kilos in 2013 to 20.51 million kilos in 2022.

Morocco was the largest supplier with a share of 73.72%. It exported 15.12 million kilos of zucchini to Spain worth € 13.85 million, at an average price of € 0.91 per kilo.

It was followed by Portugal with 3.84 million kilos worth 3.9 million euros and an average price of € 1.02/kg,

and France 959,807 kilos worth 1.14 million euro and an average price of € 1.19/kg.

Almeria was the Spanish province that imported the most zucchini with 6.45 million kilos worth 6.03 million euro and an average price of € 0.94/kg. 95.04% of the zucchini that Almeria imported came from Morocco.

The second province that imported the most zucchini last year was Madrid, with 3.98 million kilos, 4.16 million euro, and an average price of € 1.05/kg. It was followed by Barcelona, with 1.12 million kilos worth 1.15 million euro and an average price of € 1.02/kg.
