Ümit Ayar from Fresh Line Fruit Services Ltd in Nettetal:

"We are increasingly seen as an external department for returns and complaints"

In just a few years, Fresh Line Fruit Services Ltd, founded in 2015, has become the international contact point for returns and complaints. However, the current market situation, characterized by shortages and record prices, also poses major challenges for the Nettetal-based company, reports Managing Director Ümit Ayar.

"We are looking back on a difficult quarter overall, which is clearly related to the high prices as well as the tight supply situation. There is generally little produce on the market, including persimmons, onions and fruit vegetables. As a result, there are also fewer complaints, which in turn is reflected in our order situation. Nevertheless, we have been able to win some major customers in recent months," says Ayar, who also founded a new cash-and-carry store called B-Fresh BV last year.

In a tight market, inexpensive produce is especially coveted, they said. "However, our mission is still to help the respective supplier and defend the trade instead of giving away the goods at bargain prices. Accordingly, we have broadened our range of services over the years, in which we not only collect and sell the goods, but also actively support and advise our customers. This in turn has led to us being seen more and more as an external department for returns and complaints," says authorized signatory Maricarmen. The Eastern European region is an important sales market, she adds.

Growth potential available
Optimizing service performance will continue to be a focus in the coming years, Maricarmen continues. "We have found the right way and are still on course for growth. The next step is to open up the Greek and Polish markets, but we are also still gaining ground in Italy and Spain. Word of mouth is extremely important in this sector: that's why we are particularly proud of the fact that we are often recommended."

The company is working to optimize its operations, especially pickup and logistics. "We are now also in the process of renewing our website and developing an app, as we are finding that online service is also gaining sudden relevance in our industry."
