Trade via Lao Cai border gate thrives in Q1 2023

Trade activities via the Lao Cai border gate in the northern border province of Lao Cai reached nearly 186 million USD in the first quarter of this year, according to the local customs agency. Specifically, exports valued over 92 million USD, up 90%, while imports rose by over 15% to more than 93 million USD. Farm produce remained the main exports, with a value exceeding 70 million USD, up over 63% year on year. The main export items include dragon fruit, banana, rambutan, watermelon, cassava, and mangosteen.

Vietnam is expected to increase the shipment of seasonable fruits, such as lychee and dragon fruit, to China in the second quarter of this year.
