Gourmet needed a system to track large product quantities more quickly and efficiently through its internal logistics chain. This Dutch company cultivates, selects, packages, and distributes a wide range of onions, shallots, and garlic.
"Aucxis RFID Solutions suggested we use the ATLAS Forklift solution. It automatically traces the wooden crates via passive RFID technology. No more manual scanning of barcodes; RFID readers on forklifts and fixed points scan UFS tags, thus automatically identifying and localizing the crates," Gourmet reports.
This gives Gourmet complete control of its stock; it can trace every crate through the entire internal logistics path. The reliable data and overview of the products' internal cycle also optimize the process and improve quality.
The RFID system offers future insights into the internal forklift traffic logistics routes too. That means those routes can be adjusted so the forklifts travel fewer empty meters, further improving efficiency.
Jerry Posthumus, Gourmet's Operations Manager, is delighted with the RFID process. "Most importantly, we wanted to improve quality," he says.
"We want to do so by working more accurately, reducing errors, and gaining more control and insight into the process. Thanks to RFID, we can now do that," Jerry concludes.
