According to the results of the 2022 financial year, Japan increased fruit imports from Russia by 646.1%, as announced by the Ministry of Finance of Japan on their official website. During the same reporting period, vegetable imports decreased by 8.3% and soybean imports decreased by 31.8%.
It is worth noting that the increase in Russian fruit imports to Japan does not mean that they will replace domestic products. Japanese consumers still highly value their local fruit production, such as apples, pears, and mandarins. However, expanding the range of products in Japanese markets is favorable for consumers, who can choose from a greater selection of high-quality and fresh products at accessible prices.
