The Ministry of Agriculture of the Krasnodar Territory intends to limit apple imports. This proposal was made by regional Minister of Agriculture Fedor Dereka. The demand of the Russian population for apples is 2 million tons, while 1.5 million tons of these fruits are produced in the country, and a third of them are grown in the Kuban. Dereka stressed the need to limit imports of what he called inferior products from overseas.
Director of the Department of Crop Production, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture Roman Nekrasov said that in 2022 the harvest of fruit and berry products in Russia reached a historical record of 1.7 million tons. The Krasnodar Territory is one of the main producers of fruits and berries in country, it accounts for 40% of the total crop, he estimated.
