In the first quarter of 2023, the import of vegetables such as beets and aubergines increased in Kazakhstan. In turn, the import of vegetables such as peppers, onions, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, and garlic has decreased.
Meanwhile, vegetable exports from Kazakhstan have increased for potatoes, carrots, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers, but decreased for peppers and cabbage. Over the two months of this year, the import of main types of vegetables to Kazakhstan exceeded their export from Kazakhstan for cabbage, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, and garlic. At the same time, the exports of potatoes and onions from Kazakhstan exceeded the imports.
In spring, Onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes have experienced a significant price increase, while potatoes, carrots, and white cabbage have decreased in price.
In nine out of twenty regions in the country, the prices of fresh vegetables have declined, which could be good news for consumers.
