Leafood officially opens its 4000m2 vertical farm

The first Leafood farm has been officially opened in Vilnius, Lithuania. Celebrated by many invitees, CEO Valentinas Civinskas happily welcomed all guests to the company's vertical farm.

An investment of 6 million euros in total delivered the company an initial footprint of 4000m2 in a 7200m2 facility. For now, the company will be producing leafy greens and herbs. As Valentinas mentioned, Lithuanians consume about 10,000kg of lettuce a day. As Leafood's farm is producing about 1 ton per day, that would cover 10% of the domestic consumption.

YesHealth Group from Taiwan has supplied all equipment for the farm, including LEDs, cooling, technique, and the farm management software around it.

Leafood's produce includes Romaine, Lollo Rosso, Iceberg Lettuce, Spinach, Kale, Green Oakleaf, Rucola, Basil, Coriander, and Mint. Gourmet and Classic salad mixes are also on offer. Leafood vertical farm is powered entirely by renewable energy and operated by YesHealth Group's team.

Keep an eye out for a thorough photo report tomorrow.
