“Melocotón de Cieza” are peaches grown in the municipalities of Cieza, Calasparra, Jumilla and Abarán, in the south of Spain. The specific qualities of this fruit are influenced by the extreme Mediterranean climate of the region. The low temperatures of the winter nights (between -2 and 5°C) and the extreme heat of the months of May (33°C), June (37°C) and July (41°C) give these peaches a unique and characteristic size and color. The history of the inhabitants of the Cieza region in the distant past shows that all cultures have been linked in some way to agricultural activity, in which fishing has played a decisive role.
