Wipal's integration into Van der Windt benefits synergy

"A load of potatoes there, and back with pallets"

It has been four and a half years since Van der Windt acquired the pallet and container business Wipal. These are both Dutch companies. Van der Windt's various branches have been active in potato and fodder trading and transport for many years. "A great combination," says sales manager Huub van Velden. "When we have to take potatoes to, say, Germany, we have a nice return load of pallets. We can, thus, smartly combine the business units."

This summer, these synergy benefits will be further expanded. Van der Windt's companies will move to larger premises soon. "From September, the Van der Windt trading arm, Van der Windt Transport, and Wipal will be under one roof," Huub explains. Asked how the pallet company can stand out in the market, he replies: "Ultimately, it's about delivering the right product at the right time. That builds trust."

Wipal has been buying and selling wooden and plastic pallets and containers like plastic crates, pallet boxes, and IBC containers for many years. "We have customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and as far as France," Huub continues, adding that last year's pallet trade craze is over. "Fearing a raw materials shortage, there was a huge pallet demand. But, now, it's back to business as usual."

"No client is too small for us; we can supply them with a single crate to full trailers of pallets. We still have some 4,000 pieces of like-new plastic fruit crates available (120x100x77cm). These have a volume of 677 liters and a 500kg load capacity. Interested fruit growers can contact me," Huub concludes.
