This series gives the average wholesale prices of bananas by country of origin. The prices are national averages of the most usual prices charged for bananas at wholesale markets in Birmingham and London. This publication is updated weekly.
The current average week prices of bananas were at £1.06 for bananas from Belize, the same price that was asked last week. Bananas from Colombia came in at £1.06 / kg, almost steady compared to last week as well. Costa Rican bananas saw a slight drop of 2%, selling for £1.05.
All prices are in pounds (£) per kg.
Average wholesale prices of bananas from Latin America (in €/100 kgs) in week 18 stood at €102 in Spain, €128 in France and €130 in Italy.
