The yellow Coeur d’Antan is the latest yellow tomato developed by Prince de Bretagne, completing a range of 60 varieties. This new tomato has a “longer and better shelf life than the yellow ribbed variety,” as well as “a yellow flesh flamed with red and a fleshy, melting, soft texture.”

“We are always on the lookout for new varieties to offer a blend of colors, shapes and more interesting properties in terms of Brix levels, growing behavior and resistance,” explains Camille Aguer, shelter product manager at Prince de Bretagne. This constant search is carried out all year round by the Caté and Terre d'Essai experimental stations.

“We offer consumers a different shape, color and taste, and a better shelf life”
“For several years, the segments driving the tomato market have been heirloom varieties and small fruits. With the yellow Coeur d'Antan variety, we are offering consumers a different shape, color and taste, but we are also responding to a need for better preservation, which does not characterize the other more fragile old varieties.”
