The Civil Guard has arrested the 39-year-old man who, on June 17, stole at gunpoint a truck loaded with peppers. The theft occurred around 19:40 hours when the driver of a truck from Morocco stopped to take a break in a service area of the A-92 in the municipality of Huétor Tájar. The driver was still inside the cabin when a van occupied by two individuals stopped next to the truck. Both men got off the van, and one of them, which was wearing a mask, forced the truck's driver down at gunpoint.
One of the two robbers rode in the truck and the other in the van, and both took the exit towards Granada.
The Civil Guard has managed to recover the vehicle and the semi-trailer with its load of peppers in the municipality of Caniles, in an industrial warehouse owned by the man that was detained. They discovered, however, that the detainee had destroyed the truck looking for possible double funds, so the agents suspect that the peppers were not the theft's motive and that the robbers were looking for a possible drug shipment.
The detainee, who has a police record, has been placed at the disposal of the Loja Guard Court as the alleged perpetrator of armed robbery.
