Scottish seed potato industry calls for a united front

Scotland’s seed potato industry is at a crucial point, facing challenges that demand a united and collaborative approach, according to a recent report by Kelly Henaughen. With a mere 186 registered seed growers currently operating in the nation, experts warn that without coordinated efforts, the future of this vital sector remains in danger.

A recent document, titled “Sowing the seed for sustainable growth,” has been unveiled during the Potatoes in Practice event. The SAOS’s supply chain specialist, Patrick Hughes highlighted the need for the industry to maintain a united voice to uphold the key role which it plays in both the agricultural and wider rural economy.
