Agnieszka Jędras, of Don Papi: "Apples are still the flagship product"

"We thought apples would take a backseat when summer fruit arrived, but that has not been the case"

A new apple season is starting with the first harvests, which will be underway throughout Europe in the coming weeks. Poland is one of the main apple exporters on the continent.

"Polish apples are part of our import line. Normally, the campaign in Poland begins in September, although we have already started working with the first varieties and soon we will start marketing them in Spain," said Agnieszka Jędras, of Don Papi.

"This year, we are expecting a large volume to be harvested in Poland thanks to the lack of drought issues. The weather has been ideal and we, at Don Papi, will be able to deliver a high quality product to our customers throughout the year."

"We work mainly with red apple varieties, like the Royal Gala,

Gala, Prince and Evelyna, as well as with the yellow Golden Delicious variety. We are also constantly looking for new imported and domestic varieties to expand our range."

"Thanks to our extensive experience and customer portfolio, which includes national markets and supermarket chains, among others, we can offer the full range of calibers available, as well as all possible formats adapted to customer specifications."

"What matters most to us about our apples is the quality of the product. We collaborate in Poland and Spain with producers who are able to offer a very high quality product at a very competitive price." This is a very important factor for the consumer, according to Agnieszka.

"It has been almost a month since the campaign finished for us, having extended it until July, and we can confirm that apples are still the flagship product. We were surprised. In Spain, watermelon, melon and stone fruit arrive in summer, and we thought apples would take a backseat; but when this fruit arrived in the market, we did not notice a drop in our sales volumes."

"We believe this has to do with the fruit's price in the market. While summer fruit has become more expensive because of drought and weather-related issues, apple prices have stayed within the same range."

"This new season, we are going to start working with our new brands for premium and top quality apples, with which we want to bring the best Polish and domestic apples to Spanish consumers."

"We are committed to offering consumers healthy products in line with our values. With this philosophy in mind, we market also our 100% natural, additive-free juices, as well as our line of crunchy, tasty and additive-free healthy snacks with no sugar added, made from dehydrated fruits and vegetables," said Agnieszka. "Don Papi will be present at Fruit Attraction 2023, the largest gathering of fruit and vegetable companies, to be held next October in Madrid."
