The two-day event started with two excursions. Visitors could either choose to visit the Globus market hall in Wesel or the Rheinische Pilzzentrale in Geldern. The first day was rounded off with food, drinks, and a variety of conversations at a get-together at Dr. Thompson's Seifenfabrik in Düsseldorf. The Retail Awards were also presented on the same evening, with the winners causing little surprise.
- Winner of the category organic range in classic food retailing: tegut... gute Lebensmittel GmbH & Co KG
- Winner in the hypermarket category: Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding GmbH & Co. KG
- Winner in the category of food full-range retailer: Alnatura Produktions- und Handels GmbH
- Winner in the Discount category: Lidl Dienstleistung GmbH & Co.
In a representative survey conducted by leading German market research institute GfK Consumer Panels, consumers voted for their favorite fruit and vegetable departments in Germany. More than 6,000 of the households included in the panel were asked which retail group they thought carried the freshest merchandise and the most attractive departments and where the clarity and cleanliness were just as good as the general presentation as well as the selection, including trendy products. On the second day, ideas for the future of the fruit and vegetable sector were presented, with terms such as "Planetary Health Diet," Metaverse, and "International Data Standards" fluctuating.
Overall, both the organizers and visitors looked back on a successful as well as enlightening congress.
