On September 18 and 19, officials of the territorial department of Rosselkhoznadzor, identified quarantine pests in four batches of fresh melons received from Uzbekistan. Namely: the polyphagous humpback fly (Megaselia scalaris) and the melon fly (Myiopardalis pardalina). The total volume of contaminated shipments is more than 85 tons.
A quarantine pest, the South American tomato moth (Tuta absoluta (Meyrick)), was identified in a batch of tomatoes with a volume of more than 16 tons, also received from Uzbekistan.
The presence of quarantine objects was confirmed by a laboratory examination carried out by specialists from the Orenburg branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Center for Grain Quality Assessment”. In accordance with the requirements of quarantine legislation, the import of products was prohibited, and the perpetrators were brought to administrative responsibility, in accordance with Article 10.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.
