The entire world is dealing with various crises - the war, higher prices, climate change and social and geo-political tension. A series of risks and difficulties that inevitably have a negative impact on companies, including those in the primary sector.
Retilplast production plant in Campagna (Salerno)
"We sell our cover solutions in almost all continents, from Africa to Europe, including South America and Asia, but fewer orders are coming in from all these places and we are worried, because it seems as if there has been no light at the end of the tunnel since the pandemic. This year, most productions were compromised by extreme weather events, leading to lower yields all over the world. This in turn has meant a lower demand for covers despite climate change. Companies have made less money and therefore they have reduced their investments," reports Francesco Ruggia from Retilplast, an Italian company specializing in the production, processing and commercialization of nets, films and tarpaulins for the defense and qualitative and quantitative improvement of production.

"We will take part in Fruit Attraction in Madrid for this reason too. Fairs have become a way to assess trends for the near future, enabling operators to collect information and from entrepreneurs from different nations. We no longer attend just to sell. They are occasions for discussion that we believe are particularly important. We are open to innovation, which is necessary in an era where climate instability is compromising yields. We try to understand how to develop products to obtain the best conditions possible under plastic covers. There is constant development that enables us to supply plastic films with different characteristics when it comes to transmittance, light emitted, direct light, UV ray transmittance, thermal characteristics and cooling capacity."
Fruit covers - Reinforced tarpaulins and films
Climate change is one of the main future challenges for agriculture, and Retilplast makes available two reinforced plastic films that help producers obtain excellent economic and commercial results:
- PolyFilm-Plus-150 for fruit orchards where the aim is to hasten ripening. The film must be installed with a system that enables the manual variation of the central ventilation corridor for ripening to be 10 to 15 days earlier
- Nuovo-Politex-150 suitable for medium-late fruit orchards. This plastic film creates a cooler climate that extends the ripening and harvesting period.
Retilplast will attend Fruit Attraction 2023 in Hall 7 - Stand 7E26 (32m2). Francesco and Walter Ruggia will welcome visitors.
