"Blood oranges from Sicily have the right quality and numbers to compete on the international markets. At Fruit Attraction in Madrid, also thanks to the presence of our members, I was pleased to notice how our entrepreneurial model, made up of entrepreneurs who work to establish relations themselves, is much appreciated and strategically successful," reports Consorzio Arancia Rossa di Sicilia President Gerardo Diana.
Sicilian entrepreneurs with Minister Lollobrigida. Blood oranges from Sicily were one of the protagonists of Madrid 2023
"Italian companies, including those of our members, did well and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Francesco Lollobrigida stressed how this Italian approach to business constitutes an added value for our sector."
"Our competitors do not stand by and watch. Spain, for example, exported 870 thousand tons of oranges during the first seven months of 2023. The Italian sector has all it takes to continue being a protagonist on the market with its high-quality, organization and with the strength of our Pdo and Pgi typical productions. However, to fill the gap towards our competitor countries, we need to reduce the cost of labor at tax level. We need infrastructures, less bureaucracy and excise duties on fuel."
