Dorì - the commercialization of excellent grades is starting

Gold kiwifruits destined all over Europe

The commercialization of Dorì golden kiwifruits has started. The produce is destined to both Italy and Europe. "Sales have just started and things are looking good. First of all, average grades are high, at least two sizes more than 2022, which enables us to meet the demand of clients looking for a premium product," explains Antonio Zani from OP Granfrutta Zani.

But, while grade is important, flavor is essential. "It was possible to taste the produce at the fair in Madrid and all clients appreciated it, even potential new ones. The combination of excellent flavor and large grades means we have wide operation margins."

To obtain large grades, Zani always recommends performing targeted thinning: while this does indeed reduce the number of fruits, it increases the quality as well as the grades. "It is better to harvest fewer fruits, but to have better ones, which achieve higher prices."

The other positive factor concerns yields. "We harvested what we had planned along the entire peninsula. There were no drastic drops, not even in Romagna where we had to deal with the frost and the flood."

The fact is that almost all groves are protected against frost either by anti-frost irrigation systems or by turbines. As for the terrible flood in mid-May, only few hectares were submerged, which lost some quantities but which we managed to make up for with fruit from other areas."

"We are ready for the new Dorì campaign, certain that we will manage to supply Italian and foreign chains for longer and with produce of high quality."
