When fall arrives, the mushroom season usually gets going. "But we can't complain about the past few weeks. Sales went quite well, and the supply and demand of white and chestnut mushrooms were well-matched. It went as it should," says Arno van den Oord of the Dutch mushroom and bean sprout wholesaler Champoord, with satisfaction.
"Mushroom prices are reasonable to good, and I hope they remain so. The bean sprouts season is also going well. Their quality is fantastic, and sales are well in hand. These days, people use bean sprouts in many dishes."
Champoord focuses most of its exports on the Netherlands' neighboring countries, like the United Kingdom, Germany, and Belgium. "Exports to England became somewhat harder when Brexit happened, but by now, we have all the documentation nicely under control and have managed to find our way," Arno concludes.
