President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association Taras Bashtannik, shared positive news about the Ukrainian blueberry market. According to him, blueberry exports have significantly increased due to the largest producers and exporters in the country.
This led to an increase in the presence of Ukrainian blueberries in Europe and the preservation of prices on the domestic market at a level 20% higher than last year because the local market became available for smaller and medium-sized producers.
Regarding the raspberry market, Bashtannik believes that price changes are a result of planned overproduction rather than the impact of the war. He anticipates a moderate upward adjustment in raspberry prices next year, but not exceeding 15-20%.
Highlighting the peculiarities of the garden strawberry market, Bashtannik points out the challenges posed by competition from imports, especially from Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. The president of the UFVA asserts that the berry business has practically not deteriorated during the second year of the war. Regarding the electricity situation, he expresses confidence that Ukrainian farmers will be prepared for possible power outages.
The Ukrainian blueberry market is forecasted to remain stable, and the raspberry market will strengthen next year. The development of the strawberry market in Ukraine is uncertain due to the temporary occupation of the south.
