Grown exclusively in France by 35 producers in 4 production basins (Val de Loire, Alpes, Tarn-et-Garonne and Languedoc), the Swing.bio apple harvest has started. With 3,700 tons expected for this campaign (compared with 3,500 tons in 2022), the Swing.bio continues to grow. An increase in acreage is expected next year in the Val de Loire basin. Thanks to this year’s favorable weather conditions in the orchards, the season promises “fruit of good quality.”
Created in 2019, the Swing.bio is grown 100% organically and exclusively in France. It is the result of a cross between the Gala apple and a scab-resistant apple, and it is also highly resistant to aphids.

“Despite a 6.2% drop in the consumption of organic fruit and vegetables, French consumers have not turned away from organic products on a massive scale. The 10% decline in volume is comparable to the decrease affecting other food markets,” excluding first-price products. An apple recognized for its agro-ecological projects
“Winner of the 4th edition of LSA's Organic and Responsible trophy, the Swing.bio has won this award thanks to its low environmental impact and its commitment to numerous agronomic projects.” With the help of external contributors, Swing-bio producers are developing biodiversity in their orchards: the Bee Friendly label, for the protection of pollinators. This European initiative aims to promote more responsible agriculture, by supporting and training producers in bee-friendly practices. We are also working with Beeguard, a start-up that connects beehives to measure the impact of improvements in orchard biodiversity. With this solution, Swing.bio aims to measure the relevance of orchard developments such as hedges, flower strips and the overall reduction in orchard interventions.
