Ukrainian farmers are succeeding in raising prices for high-quality carrots

Following a sharp price decline in the carrot segment observed in the Ukrainian market, wholesale prices for these root vegetables have once again begun to rapidly increase.

According to data from the project's daily monitoring, just since the beginning of last week, carrots on the Ukrainian market have increased in price on average by 37%, and producers are willing to ship this produce at $0.17-0.28/kg. According to key market players, the notable increase in trading activity in this segment is contributing to the rise in carrot prices.

Meanwhile, the majority of farms have suspended the sale of high-quality carrots in anticipation of further price increases and have stored the main volume of the harvest. They are offering only excess stock for sale, resulting in a slight reduction in the supply of this root vegetable on the market.

However, despite such a rapid increase in prices, today carrots in Ukraine are offered for sale on average 52% cheaper than in the same period last year. Participants in the market do not rule out that the trend of rising prices may be a temporary phenomenon. In their opinion, further price increases may motivate farmers to start selling carrots from storage, leading to an increase in supply and, as a result, a decrease in prices.
