In the Mykolaiv region, Ukrainian farmers are harvesting the second crop of vegetables

Agricultural producers in the Mykolaiv region are harvesting the second crop of vegetables grown on an industrial scale for the first time as part of an experiment. This was announced by the owner of PE "SP "PAEK" Yuriy Kormyshkin.

"This year, our company experimented for the first time, growing a second crop of vegetables in this season. In total 28 hectares were sown with potatoes, carrots, beets, corn, broccoli, zucchini, and more. I want to note that the quality of the vegetables is very good, and it can already be said that the experiment was successful. It is beneficial for both our company and consumers who will receive more quality vegetables," said Yuriy Kormyshkin.

According to him, the yield of potatoes and corn is not inferior to the first harvest. Carrots have just started to be harvested, but they also impress with their quality and quantity. The vegetables are stored in refrigerators rented for this purpose, as the company does not have its own yet. In particular, 500 tons of carrots will be stored there.

All vegetables were grown on irrigated lands using drip irrigation and sprinkler machines. The company's director added that the results would have been even better if not for the early frost on October 10-11, which prevented the complete harvesting of cucumbers, zucchini, and peppers. Instead, carrots and beets survived the frost well.

Overall, 300 hectares of farmland were devoted to vegetables this year. For the next season, there are plans to increase this figure to 2,000 hectares. This effort aims to maximize the potential of irrigated lands and to some extent compensate for the loss of agricultural potential in the Kherson region.
