A Spanish company specializing in fertilizers for organic farming expands to Latin America

"We've experienced double-digit growth in the last six to seven years"

Defeder, which specializes in 100% organic agricultural products, has expanded its international expansion by making its first shipments to South America. The company, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, exports more than 60% of its production to more than 23 countries on three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. According to Joaquín Saila, partner and founder of Defeder, the company closed 2022 with a turnover of around 48 million euro after having been growing by double digits for the last 6-7 years.

The company produced 150 to 160 million kilos of products last year at its facilities in Alcolea de Cinca, in Huesca, where it recently completed investments and the expansion announced last year worth one million euro. “We've finished making some improvements. In 2024, we'll surely undertake the improvement of spaces in the office area and we'll enable more space and some silo structure."

Defeder has developed Powerdef technology that, together with the practice of regenerative agriculture, proposes ecological fertilization as the solution to the problem of punished lands.

The company's objectives include continuing to grow in the coming years and being part of Europe's top 3 organic agricultural producers. At the moment, it is already the leading organic company in Spain.
