Apple and pear harvests in Kuban have ended

The orchard workers are still gathering winter fruits, so the final figures are pending. October is the time for harvesting winter apple varieties. The work is extensive, with crews taking care not to bruise or damage the fruits, ensuring longer storage life.

In the Leningrad district, 22 apple varieties are cultivated, with the current focus on harvesting the popular "Fuji," known for its 240-day storage capacity. Storms have significantly affected trees.

While the harvest is yet to be tallied, conservative estimates suggest 25,000 tons of apples will be collected in this orchard, destined for federal networks and stores in the capital and Siberia. Even after filling refrigerators with apples, orchard work continues, turning attention to composting and planting young trees.

Since the beginning of the year, Kuban has seen a gross harvest of seed crops amounting to around 300,000 tons. Krasnodar Krai is Russia's largest fruit orchard, with over 400 enterprises in the horticulture sector.
