The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the largest alliance of fruit and vegetable producers in Hungary, FruitVeB, report that pumpkin consumption in Hungary is increasing, and favourable weather conditions have contributed to a good pumpkin season this year.
The total area of pumpkin plantations in Hungary this year is 1626 hectares, slightly more than in 2022. The domestic yield is approximately 35-40 thousand tons, which more or less covers domestic consumption, making imports insignificant.
Hungarian farmers typically grow several varieties, including large-fruited varieties such as Muscade de Provance and Hokkaido.
