The 27th Euronion meeting, an event that gathers traders, producers and researchers from all over the world specializing in the onion sector ended on November 10th, 2023. The 2023 edition was organized by Matteo Freddi from "Cipolle Freddi" and featured David O'Connor as the event coordinator.
All reports mentioned that the weather in 2023 affected the entire onion cycle, from sowing to harvesting, and the consequences are still being felt during the storage phase.

Tim Elcombe from Great Britain stressed that significant Fusarium attacks were registered.
Greg Yielding
Greg Yielding from the US added that "our country has very different areas, which meant our productions varied a lot."
William Nannes
William Nannes from the Netherlands reported that, in some areas, there was no rain for as many as 39 days, which is a record. This caused productivity problems and smaller grades than usual with a 10% drop in larger grades. 29,265 hectares were planted in 2023.
"The onion situation is difficult in all countries due to the weather. We discussed the fact that issues become worse by always cultivating in the same soil, that is why some nations are standing out, as they are planting onions in different areas." Poland is a prime example of this.
Euronion will be held in Sweden in 2024, during the first week of November.
