Morocco increased its pepper exports in 2022

An analysis carried out by Hortoinfo reveals that, in 2022, Moroccan pepper exports reached 166.9 million kilos, growing by 4.43% over the previous year and by 80.8% in the last 10 years.

In contrast, pepper exports from Spain, the Netherlands, and Turkey, which are also important exporters of this vegetable, declined in 2022.

In the last ten years, Spanish pepper exports have increased by 33.88% to 793.98 million kilos. In the last year, however, exports decreased by 10.95% when compared to the 891.6 million kilos of pepper exported in the previous year.

In 2022, the province of Almeria accounted for 69.51% of all Spanish pepper exports after shipping out 576.83 million kilos of pepper, i.e., 45.89% more than ten years earlier but 2.97% less than in 2021.

The Netherlands exported 428.53 million kilos of pepper in 2022, i.e., 4.21% over 2021 and -3.63% compared to what it exported ten years earlier.

Finally, despite increasing its pepper exports by 90.82% in the last ten years, in 2022, Turkish exports decreased by 16.49% over the previous year and amounted to 158.94 million kilos.
