Brazilian company maintains ships to export fruit to Europe

Amid the logistical chaos resulting from the pandemic, Agrícola Famosa , Brazil’s largest fruit exporter, spent millions of dollars to charter ships and guarantee the delivery of its melons and watermelons to Europe. The strategy increased the company's costs by 30%, but the results were excellent.

As a result, the company decided to maintain six ships on charter for practically the entire year. Thanks to this measure and also to the expansion of the markets to which it exports, Famosa expects to earn R$1.5 billion this year, an amount 20% higher than in 2022. The company also projects a 20% growth in profit before and interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), to R$ 220 million.
