Rosselkhoznadzor reports 1.5-fold increase in onion imports to Primorsky Krai in 2023

Significant surge in onion imports from Kazakhstan to Russia's Primorsky Krai

The import of onion from Kazakhstan to Primorsky Krai has experienced a remarkable 1.5-fold surge, according to recent data from Rosselkhoznadzor. With 7,212 tons of onions imported since the beginning of 2023. In comparison, during the same period last year, the region received 4,879 tons.

The press service of the interregional department of Rosselkhoznadzor provided insights into the overall foreign vegetable and fruit imports to Primorsky Krai from November 13 to 16. During this brief period, the region welcomed a total of 5,693.4 tons of fresh produce from seven different foreign countries. Unsurprisingly, China emerged as the leading contributor, shipping 2,633.7 tons of fresh products to Primorsky Krai.

In addition to the substantial onion influx from Kazakhstan, the region received over 226 tons of bananas from Ecuador, 150 tons of Korean mandarins and apples, and 113 tons of Argentine pears. South Africa, a consistent supplier of citrus fruits to Primorsky Krai, delivered 97 tons of oranges, mandarins, and lemons. Vietnam, known for its diverse produce, contributed nearly 35 tons, including citrus fruits, pineapples, bananas, exotic fruits, watermelons, and even sweet potatoes.
