According to data from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the import of vegetables and fruits to the region stood at 1,100 tons for the first eleven months of 2023. This marks a significant decrease of 29.8 times compared to the corresponding period in 2021 when the republic had imported 32,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products from abroad.
Over the last year, the import of vegetables and fruits to Bashkortostan from abroad has shrunk by 4.5 times. Between January and November 2022, the republic received 4,900 tons of imported produce.
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance reported that over 911 tons of white cabbage, bell peppers, table beets, onions, garlic, fresh apples, nectarines, cherries, persimmons, watermelons, and melons were imported into the region.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey are still the primary suppliers that provide vegetables and fruits to the area.
