First came the Tomato monitor, then the Soft Fruit and Exotics ones. Now, the crowd-sourcing platform Roamler is introducing a fourth monitor to its fruit and vegetable sector services: the Fruit-vegetable Monitor.
"Continuous market interest led to us deciding to launch this monitor. It focuses entirely on all fruit and vegetables, excluding tomatoes. Subscribers can use the Fruit-vegetable Monitor from January to get weekly updates regarding the status of bell peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, and zucchini on the German and British retail shelves," Christiaan Rijnhout says.

"We use OCR (photo recognition software) to analyze most of the data. Every week, we can thus measure many KPIs, like the product, product type, supplier, store level, GLN, GGN, country of origin, product color, packaging, promotion, weight, (promotional) price, and EAN code. Each link in the chain uses that information differently, but some data points, such as price, promo, and country of origin, are important for everyone."
"We offer all this German and British fruit-vegetable world data in a single, easy-to-use dashboard. So, we give parties throughout the chain - from breeders and growers to exporters and service providers - a wealth of up-to-date information. They can use that to identify trends easily," Christiaan explains.
"Our Tomato, Soft Fruit, and Exotic Fruit Monitors are undoubtedly meeting a need in that regard, and we expect this Fruit-Vegetable Monitor to be no different. The costs for this monitor start from €5,000 per year. What's new is that we'll now publish quarterly reports, which will become available to a wider audience."
"We've not been idle this past year. The market is increasingly data-driven, so many parties want an overview that combines all the important KPIs. In co-creation with customers, we've greatly improved our monitors and have added products such as kiwi to the Exotics Monitor," Christiaan concludes.
Roamler will be in Berlin again to address interested parties outside of Europe.
