In the same period, purchases from Morocco increased by 58 million kilos:

In the last 15 years, Spanish tomato exports have decreased by 328 million kilos

In the last 15 years, Spanish tomato exports have decreased by 34%, going from 957.6 million kilos in 2008 to 629.27 million kilos in 2022. However, since the average price in this period went from 0.89 euros per kilo to 1.75 euros per kilo, revenues increased and went from 848.8 million euro in 2008 to 1100.6 million euro in 2022.

Meanwhile, Spanish tomato imports from Morocco increased by 185% in volume, going from 31.37 million kilos in 2008 to 89.42 million kilos in 2022.

The value of Spanish tomato purchases from Morocco increased from 22.47 million euros in 2008 to 103 million euros in 2022, with an average price that has grown from 0.72 euros per kilo to 1.5 euros per kilo in the same period.

However, in this period, Spain's total tomato import volume has only decreased by 2% going from 191.58 million kilos in 2008 to 188.06 million kilos in 2022.

Despite the decrease in import volume, the value has increased significantly, going from 55.16 million euro in 2008 to 206.03 million euro in 2022. This increase is partly attributed to the increase in the average price, which has gone from 0.29 euros per kilo in 2008 to 1.10 euros per kilo in 2022.
