CMA CGM announces new Panama Canal surcharges

CMA CGM, a French container shipping firm, has revealed new surcharges for several global routes via the Panama Canal. The company will specifically apply a surcharge of US$150 per Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) for all cargo categories. This charge will be effective from January 12, and it will apply to shipments from the US West Coast ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Oakland to North Europe, Scandinavia, Poland, and Baltic regions.

In addition, the shipping company plans to implement the same surcharge from the West Coast of South America to the East Coast of Canada starting on January 1.

Furthermore, CMA CGM will impose a US$150 surcharge for the Panama Canal on the West Coast of South America from the East Coast of Central America, the Caribbean, Leeward, Windward, and French West Indies. This will commence on January 1, with the exception of shipments from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. For these locations, the surcharge will become effective from January 20.
