"We will start to see many more modernized propulsion systems on ships aimed at reducing emissions."

Ocean Network Express low-emission vessel departs Cape Town on its maiden voyage

A brand new vessel built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for One Ocean Network, has just departed from Cape town, and is en route to Rotterdam.

"Both ONE Readiness and ONE Reassurance are assigned to the SA Express service to Europe. These vessels are designed to greatly reduce energy consumption, therefore ultimately reducing the cargoes emissions footprint and complying with EU emissions controls," noted the Citrus Growers' Association's logistics desk. "Both ships are very significant for fruit trade to EU. We will start to see many more interesting and modernized propulsion systems on ships aimed at reducing emissions."
