"We're trying to create vertical, predictable chains":

Harvest House acquires Zijtwende

Zijtwende International, a Dutch trading company, has become a part of the growers' cooperative Harvest House. According to Jelte van Kammen, Harvest House's director, the acquisition arose from a desire among customers for more forward integration, with the market wanting to be closer to cultivation.

Harvest House already had a client relationship with Zijtwende. "They purchased from us but also sourced their trade elsewhere," Jelte explains. The merger talks began via cultivation, but the two parties eventually carried them forward. "We're trying to create vertical, predictable chains, and this step fits perfectly into that strategy."

Zijtwende International focuses on marketing fruit and vegetables with bell peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, iceberg lettuce, and tomatoes as their main products. Over the past few years, the company specialized in supplying Dutch-grown products.

Zijtwende's structure, location, and product range will remain unchanged. "We intervene as little as possible and believe entrepreneurship should stay at the forefront. That's how we operate with our other subsidiary organizations, and we'll do the same with Zijtwende," Jelte concludes.

Harvest House's other subsidiaries include Terra Natura International, Global Green Team, and Rainbow International.
