In January-October of the previous year, Azerbaijan increased its tomato purchases from Turkey by 419 times. According to data from the State Statistical Committee, Azerbaijan imported 117.36 tons of tomatoes from Turkey, amounting to 66,440 US dollars in 10 months. Compared to the same period in 2022, the import value rose by 230 times.
The Southeast Anatolia Exporters Association reported that tomato exports in 2023 increased by 42.8% compared to 2022, reaching 538.724 million US dollars. During this period, 588,418 tons of tomatoes were exported to 52 countries, including Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Seychelles, Russia, Denmark, Spain, Azerbaijan, Italy, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Estonia, and France.
Romania ranked first among the countries where Turkey exported the most tomatoes last year. Tomatoes worth 91.983 million US dollars were sold to Romania over the year. Following Romania in the ranking were Ukraine, Poland, Germany, and Russia.
