Potato Market Report Week 1-2:

'Smooth sales of domestic storage potatoes'

Domestic ware potatoes continue to form the basis of the product range. As these consistently impressed in terms of quality, they could generally be sold without difficulty. According to BLE, not much happened in terms of price. Meanwhile, a few French Agata supplemented the domestic batches. In the area of early potatoes for consumption, Italian and Cypriot batches were available. Their sales usually took place at the previous rates.

Rhineland-Palatinate:
Good consumer demand is reported in the potato market. Both retailers and direct marketers are satisfied with the sales. The supply to the packaging companies is sufficient. Grower's revenues continue to be reduced by high sorting out. The price development for table potatoes continues to be firm. Frost makes logistics more complicated than before.

Schleswig-Holstein:
The significant increase in heath potato prices is leading to higher price demands from the producer side here. This has ended the potato trade's calm after the turn of the year. The higher price demand is justified by the fact that only potatoes from air-conditioned storage facilities are now being offered. Quality goods remain scarce and are in high demand by the trade. The high sorting effort leads to high labour costs. In some cases, workers can hardly be obtained, even with higher wage offers. This situation is compounded by the drastically increased energy costs. This supports the increased price demands for potatoes. There are good chances of enforcing the price increases in the trade. This week, the frost and farmer demonstrations are making logistics more complicated.

Lower Saxony:
The field stores could mostly be cleared. The first cold stores were opened. After a good Christmas business and continued good sales, the potato price could be raised to 40€, according to the BVNON.

NRW:
As far as ware potatoes go, the transition to goods from the cold stores is expected this week. For this premium product, REKA quotes an increase of 5.00 €/100 kg. There are few changes in the industrial market. Producer prices also remain unchanged.

Hesse:
In Hesse, there was a first price increase in the packing sector between week 1 and 2.
