New grant programs in Ukraine, initiated in the fall of 2022, have emerged as a crucial factor in the development of berry cultivation. Taras Bashtannik, the President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association, emphasized in an interview that 2023 faced significant challenges due to war and border restrictions.
However, foreign-funded grant programs administered through the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food have stood out as a positive exception.
These programs provide berry farmers with upfront funding, fostering industry growth over 18 months. The initiative streamlines the application process, incentivizing the expansion of berry cultivation in Ukraine, encompassing not only berries and fruit crops but also nuts.
Despite the complexities of the previous year, this initiative contributes to the positive momentum in the industry's development.
