Moroccan Minister confirms ample supply available for Ramadan

Moroccan Agriculture Minister, Mohamed Sadiki, has confirmed that measures are in place to ensure a well-stocked national market with essential food items for Ramadan. He made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of agricultural and professional bodies, promising a sufficient supply of vegetables, fruits, red meat and grain-based products.

Sadiki also committed to daily market surveillance to maintain price stability throughout the month. He acknowledged the challenges posed by price fluctuations and the ongoing drought, and pledged to prioritize irrigation projects and support all professional actors to overcome these challenges.

In a recent meeting with professionals in the fisheries sector, an agreement was reached on the formation of a central committee. This committee will ensure a regular supply of high-quality fisheries products throughout Morocco during Ramadan and will conduct daily inspections of prices in wholesale and retail markets.

The minister emphasized that the primary goal is to ensure the supply of seafood products across Moroccan regions during Ramadan. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs is set to announce the official start date of Ramadan 2024 after the crescent moon sighting.
