New Zealand apple producer closes 2023 season with 1.6 million exported cartons

Golden Bay Fruit New Zealand based apple grower, packer and exporter, concluded their 2023 season with a company export record – surpassing 1.6 million cartons of apples, marking a significant milestone for the company.

The growth can be attributed to strategic new plantings, particularly of their intellectual property (IP) varieties such as Sassy™, Cherish™, Miranda™, and Dazzle™, some of which have seen a doubling in volume in recent years.

With new variety plantings coming into maturity and an abundance of sunshine during blossom and the summer break, Golden Bay Fruit anticipates another record-breaking season this year and further increased volumes of their IP varieties, including the recently launched Posh™, described as "a new class of apple from New Zealand," which boasts a delicate Honeycrisp texture, large round shape, and distinctive red skin.

In addition to the Posh™ launch, their exclusive Cherish™ variety continues to thrive after five years in the market, experiencing remarkable growth and demand in selected global markets, especially in greater China, Vietnam and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Sassy™, known for its early harvest window, bold red hue, and lively personality, is only a few weeks away from harvest and is expanding its global footprint with trial plantings underway in South Africa, China, France, UK, and the USA.
