Domestic offers dominated the apple market: Elstar, Jonagold, Boskoop, and Wellant were predominant. Pink Lady, Granny Smith, and Red Delicious were primarily sourced from Italy. France mainly contributed with Pink Lady and Jazz. Dutch shipments completed the range of goods. Jonagold-Decosta from Belgium appeared: the striped and dark red fruits were sold in Frankfurt for €0.90 per kg. Polish Idared sized 80/90 mm were also available there, costing only €1.08 per kg.
The farmers' protest at the beginning of the week led to a local suspension of trade on Monday. Generally, the low temperatures led to a rather restrained demand on the part of the customers. This could be met without difficulty. In terms of price, not much happened. Here and there, traders were forced to withdraw their previous prices, to prevent surpluses. Price increases were the absolute exception.
Pears
The assortment was rather clear. However, as demand was rather limited as well, there was generally no pressure on the prices.
Grapes
South African imports were clearly predominant. Deliveries from Peru and Namibia only had a supplementary status. The freezing cold generally led to very little interest, which could be satisfied without effort.
Oranges
Spanish Navelina dominated in the blond orange segment. The presence of Turkish Washington Navel expanded. Spanish Salustiana as well as Egyptian Navel and Valencia Late gained in importance overall, but ultimately played only a minor role.
Small citrus fruits
Overall, a certain customer saturation could not be denied, and business was rather slow. The low temperatures, on the other hand, improved storage possibilities.
Lemons
Spanish Primofiori clearly dominated the scene. Enterdonato came from Turkey. The range was rounded off by deliveries from Italy, Greece and Egypt.
Bananas
The supply was adequately adjusted to the storage possibilities. Consequently, there were no significant changes in terms of pricing.
Cauliflower
Demand was generally quite friendly. However, it could usually be satisfied without difficulty, even though availability became slightly restricted.
Lettuce
Iceberg lettuce came exclusively from Spain. The supply had decreased and demand could not be satisfied everywhere. Rising prices were the order of the day.
Cucumbers
Spanish cucumbers apparently dominated the market. Overall, sales were calm. The prices usually crumbled a bit, as storage possibilities had been limited.
Tomatoes
Generally, the demand could be met without much effort. Occasionally, the Belgian and Dutch offers were too expensive, so trade was rather sluggish.
Bell peppers
Spanish deliveries dominated the scene, Turkish imports rounded it off. Demand was rather subdued in general, yet the prices usually shifted upwards.
