A sharp decline in fruit and vegetable imports to Bashkortostan, a region in Russia

Bashkortostan has experienced a significant 75% drop in fruit and vegetable imports.

According to the Republic's Rosselkhoznadzor office, in 2023, only 278 shipments, totalling 1,177 tons of quarantine-controlled produce, entered Bashkortostan. This marks a sharp decline from the previous year when 423 shipments, amounting to 4,870.8 tons, were imported.

This year, only 358 shipments weighing 4,120.9 tons were imported, marking a sharp decline from last year's 423 shipments weighing 4,870.8 tons.

The imported produce hails from CIS countries, Turkey, and China. Notably, last year saw Bashkortostan import over 1,016 tons of various vegetables and fruits, including cabbage, peppers, beets, onions, garlic, apples, nectarines, cherries, persimmons, mandarins, watermelons, and melons. These products originated from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and China.

All samples underwent successful entomological testing at the laboratory, ensuring the safety and quality of the imported goods.
