International firm initiates negotiations to acquire Jersey potato company

Albert Bartlett, a prominent cultivator and distributor of Jersey Royal potatoes, is in talks to be acquired by an international corporation. The company, which operates farms in the UK, Ireland, and France, confirmed it has initiated discussions with an investment group to buy The Jersey Royal Company.

Albert Bartlett anticipates that the potential deal would bolster its ability to continue offering high-quality products. However, any sale would require the approval of farming regulators.

A representative of Albert Bartlett stated: "Albert Bartlett has been packing and marketing Jersey potatoes for many generations. The Jersey Royal Company, which transitioned into its current model as a grower and packer of Jersey potatoes over two decades ago, was bought by Produce Investments in 2014."

"Both businesses view the consolidation of the island's leading producers as crucial for ensuring a sustainable future for the renowned Jersey Royal product and maintaining its quality for consumers."

The Jersey Royal Company is yet to comment on this development.
