Brazil's fruit exports reached a historic high in 2023, exceeding $1.2 billion in revenue, a remarkable 26.73% increase from the previous year. The volume of exports also rose by 6%, equivalent to over one million tons of fruit. This record reflects the diverse range of fruits cultivated in Brazil and the growing global recognition of their quality.
Abrafrutas' president, Guilherme Coelho, attributed this success to the dedication and hard work of Brazilian fruit growers. Mango remains the top export, with a significant increase of 51.52% in value and 15% in volume, totaling over 266 thousand tons. Melons followed closely, surpassing 228 thousand tons with revenues of $189 million, a growth of 20.93% in value and 2.61% in volume.
Avocado exports also saw significant growth, recording an impressive 128% increase in value and a staggering 143% in volume. This growth reflects the rising popularity of avocados and their consolidation as a favorite for their taste and nutritional value.
This achievement is in part a result of Brazil's efforts in recent years to open new markets.
