In a recent development, Poland anticipates a boost in its apple exports to Belarus as new regulations allow shipments for an extended period. Effective from April 1, the revised rules, introduced by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus on December 26, 2023, bring positive changes to the existing embargo on Polish apples.
While the embargo officially extends until the end of 2024, there is a noteworthy amendment to the list of sanctioned goods. Fresh apples are now permitted entry into Belarus from April 1 to July 31 this year. This mirrors the conditions observed in the previous year, offering a four-month window for apple exports.
This development is a promising sign for the apple industry, providing a favourable trading environment and potentially influencing apple prices positively. With reduced shipments to Egypt and Romania, the four-month export period to Belarus is expected to make a significant impact. Last year, during a similar timeframe, Poland successfully exported 32 thousand tons of apples to Belarus.
