Ecuador exported exported 15.32 million more boxes of bananas during 2023 compared to 2022. That is an increase of 4.52%, with a total of accumulated exports of 354.63 million boxes up to the month of December 2023 compared to exports of 339.31 million for 2022.
According to the latest statistics provided by the two Ecuadorian banana industry bodies AEBE and Acorbanec, the top three export regions that received the bulk of their bananas are the European Union with 28.42%, Russia with 21.12% and the Middle East with 14.78%. A total of 228.09 million boxes were shipped to these three regions.
Accumulated exports by region that had less imports from Ecuador include Eastern Europe with 28.26%, Europe EFTA with 12.08% and the Middle East with 7.19%. These three regions stopped shipping a total of 6.32 million boxes in December compared to 2022.
The ports in Ecuador with the most export are ranked with Guayaquil: 230.89 million boxes (65.11% share), Puerto BolĂvar 78.41 million boxes (22.11% share) and Posorja 45.33 million boxes (12.78% share).
